@Fairphone Companies with a decent, open and beautiful product like Fairphone are also using manipulative pictures of smiling people instead of pictures of the product (blueprints are sexy, y'know), so I started to forgive sociopathic companies for doing the same.

@Fairphone The key insight from the fairphone "experiment" is that you can't have a sustainable phone without sustainable (read: free) software. The best repair options won't help if you can't get firmware updates (as seen dramatically with the FP1). I posted an article back in 2019 on this topic:https://www.kulesz.me/post/110-smartphones/I wish the next #fairphone will be based on freedom-friendly hardware and will finally replace Android with one of the truly sustainable alternatives such as #postmarketos.

@Fairphone When I first bought my FP, I immediately flashed another OS on it. Most companies would've told me I'd loose warranty by doing that, not Fairphone. Allowing such things is now a standard I hold other companies/products to as well (and something I tell other people about as well).

@Fairphone I look at UBports' Lomiri and wonder why you're not supporting it!

@mark @Fairphone What do you mean with "UBports' Lomiri"? Lomiri is just the DE used by Ubuntu Touch. UT itself runs on the FP2 (I use it) and there's a build in the works for FP3 https://devices.ubuntu-touch.io/device/fp3/

@ilja Gah! The FP3 UBports image is nowhere near daily-driver ready and moves along at a snail's pace. :/ And I've see no evidence of support from @Fairphone for it. Happy to be proved wrong.(And yes! I'd really like to see a proper Linux phone from Fairphone)

@mark @Fairphone No, you're right, for FP3 it's not ready and FP doesn't support/pay for the build. They have their own FairphoneOpen OS or smthng, but it's AOSP based. Would be nice indeed if they'd have a non-aosp based OS as alternative instead! I know Volla does that, but not FP.

@martijnbraam @kuleszdlThat's why all following Fairphone models no longer have a Mediatek chipset. The FP2 has patchlevel 2021-06-05 and was released December 2015.
