@jbauer just found you since I am considering migrating from Mastodon to Pleroma and read https://www.paritybit.ca/blog/mastodon-to-pleroma-1-setting-up-a-pleroma-serverSeems like the migration has been worthwhile for you, since you are still active here? ;)Though, why did you worry about migrating followers? Couldn't you simply replace the Mastodon instance with a Pleroma instance at the same domain with the same username, so followers wouldn't even notice the transition? And while we're at it, follower migration is live: https://git.pleroma.social/pleroma/pleroma/-/merge_requests/3233

@janek Yep, Pleroma has been a much nicer admin experience (for the most part) than Mastodon. I wasn't able to actually migrate my profile though since the database formats are incompatible between Masto and Pleroma so I could bring over my follows but not my followers and such. It does look like it'd be easier now that the issue you linked is resolved. Also, I maybe could have replaced the instance, but I don't know how that would have worked in practice since the database schemas are different and that may have messed up federation or following somehow. (I basically didn't want to take any chances with it).I'm glad you enjoyed my blog post :blobfoxhappy:

@jbauer @janek could have probably done it because they are API compatible, but you would have to do deep database admin magic to migrate across data models.have done once (not a fedi instance) but is hairy.
