       It’s fashionable to shit on Torba. But he had the right idea with converting Gab to Mastodon. He was just too early. He gave up on federation when the early Mastodon servers and client apps blacklisted Gab. He didn’t realize there would be an explosion of shitlord federated servers to peer with.It’s not too late. Torba should get his team off the browser and video distractions. Make the core service fully compatible with the fediverse again and focus on performance tuning. He could still have the biggest normie conservative portal into this space.

       @catch even with the state of the fedi at the time and... I think it's his own fault for being so short-sighted.        @Secftblgirl @mrsaturday @catch The video was of rob colbert.  gab defederated b/c their site had about 2k DAU (daily active users) not a million.  torba was never going to federate and was making excuses for not doing it when I announced our project and new protocol.
