       @amolith Never understood why VIM and Emacs were rivals. Why would anyone use a bloated Emacs on the CLI for editing a simple text file?For me, those 2 have totally different use cases.

       @ybaumy I only started using Emacs on Monday (I think) so I'm not one to ask but I think a potential situation is keeping Emacs open all the time and using emacsclient when you need to edit a config or something similar. I've found that, since I started getting more into org-mode, it generally just stays in workspace 2 so I can quickly switch to it and update my TODOs, make a note of something, get a thought off my mind, etc. My fingers still default to vim in a terminal but I do see the benefit of having it already there and waiting if it's what you spend your time in anyway

       @amolith Yea well. If you are not hopping from system to system and doing admin stuff, that may be fine. As I said you will probably not want to use emacs for just editing "one" config file, let alone even install that monster on any of your servers.^^

       @ybaumy Oh no. Emacs will never be on my servers lol. I'm just fine using whatever vanilla version of vi(m) comes preinstalled :blobwink:​

       @ybaumy Though I have heard of some people putting Emacs on a server just to run there and using clients on all their other machines so they don't have to bother configuring it multiple times :blobcatthinkingsmirk:​
