After 4 years on Linux and 4 years on Mac OS X, I have had to work today on a Windows laptop.I don't have words. May Cthulhu have mercy on my soul and eat me first.

@ParadeGrotesque Windows is in my experience the hardest to get used to, and you never really get efficient.Windows seems optimized for Excel and PowerPoint types. Or anyone who just use one program at a time in full screen mostly, and don't care about tweaking, comfort, things looking nice etc.Non-tech business users, basically.I'll rephrase: Windows is for people who don't care about computers.

@ParadeGrotesque when I go bcak to OSX I feel crippled now. pkg management on *NIX systems makes everything bliss. And no, macports|homebrew despite their awesomeness, are simply not as good - the proprietary apps still get in the way

@ParadeGrotesque Like many poisons, you can build up a tolerance over time by repeated exposure to MS-Windows. :flan_XD: :flan_laugh: (Speaking from experience, as support for such machines is a big part of my job.) That said, BSD is on my cold-dead-fingers list, when it comes to laptops and desktops for *my use. Bhyve handles Win10 well enough for the few Windows-only apps I have to use, and Windows updates don't sideline my comp, TYVM.
