#fossmendations wanted. Does anyone know a good #foss or #opensource project management tool? Preferably something that looks like Asana. Apps that have tried and failed: Wekan, Kanboard and Taiga. Thank you!

@Gina I used odoo for a while, i think it was kanpan? Worked very well, but for my company size project management was way too much of an overhead

@Gina I once got into contact with the guys of Quire.io, but that has been several years. Could you share your experience with Taiga.io briefly? It always looked to me like a very nice piece of software!

@Gina Have you tried Planner (https://wiki.gnome.org/Apps/Planner/)? I also encourage you to take a look (in case you haven't) at the Free Software Directory section on Project Management tools https://directory.fsf.org/wiki?title=Special:Ask&offset=0&limit=100&q=%5B%5BBusiness%3A%3Aproject-management%5D%5D&p=mainlabel%3D%2Fformat%3Dtemplate%2Flink%3Dnone%2Ftemplate%3DGetlist-2Drow%2Fintrotemplate%3DGetlist-2Dintro%2Foutrotemplate%3DGetlist-2Doutro&po=%3FFull+description%3DDescription%0A%3FHomepage+URL%3DHomepage%0A%3FLicense%0A%3FIs+GNU%23%5B%5BFile%3AHeckert_gnu.tiny.png%5D%5D%2C%0A Good luck :)

@stevenroose I found it too convoluted for our non-technical users (and even for myself). Besides that, they've upped their prices a lot lately.

@gadonias Thanks for the suggestion, but Planner gives me serious Windows 95 flashbacks 😅 I'll check out the rest.

@Gina I think the dev of imdone.io is considering an open source biz model. It’s simple & powerful, allowing markdown todos written in context of code. I’ve found it very fast and effective. Worth a look and a convo with the dev to see if open source is the way he’s going to go?

@Gina Nextcloud has a simple app for such things. I didn't test it thoroughly, but I think it's slim and easy to handle. There's also an android app if you like such things. Disadvantage is that you need a Nextcloud instance somewhere.

@Gina me neither. I mostly don't use the git repository. Of course the tool facilitates some style of project management (agile?) but the basic tools are there: issues, milestones, time tracking, overview boards.

@Gina I tried wekan and was disappointed it didn't really work on mobile. What's wrong with asana for your use-case? I use asana at work, and wekan/remember the milk at home.

@mathijs I think it might have more to do with our non existing project management skills and less with the tools to be honest.

@Gina Perhaps OpenProject? I remember researching something like this some time ago and ended up going in a different direction. It looks pretty decent, but I haven't used it.

@GinaAt work, some people have been trying to use tuleap. https://www.tuleap.org/It's okay. I feel like it really uses their concept of tasks for odd things. But you do get burn down charts, card walls, and other plugins

@GinaResurrecting a thread from the dead, I know. I've tried many of the solutions proposed here and for professional project management the only one that comes close is #KDE's #CalligraPlan. Although it does need a significant amount of love, mind. But at least you can create your proper work package structure, assign and track (bugs aside) resources and, importantly, do #PERT scheduling.
