I'm trying to get better at barbell squats. I now do sets of 4 x 8 with 50kg. I find it, excuse my French, fucking hard. What amazes me most though is that there are female people out there, with a similar frame, who walk around with that extra 50kgs on their body everyday. Not to fatshame or anything, I just find it impressive what the human body can endure.

@Gina but human body can't endure that, they will have joint issues among other things

@Gina Most people who are 50kg overweight struggle, like you, to do a squat. But yes, put someone very overweight on a leg press machine and watch the numbers go up. They get a lot of practice.

Could have done a lot better on the form, but it's really satisfying that I can now do deadlift sets of 4x4 with 90kg 😃Again, I would post it on #pixelfed, but the 15MB limit makes it impossible @pixelfed 😭#fitness #lifting #weights

@Gina nice work! Good form too.I remember when I broke 100kg for benching. I don’t know why, but 100 is what everyone always aims for.Couldn’t bench that these days, unfortunately. 😕

@Gina @pixelfed 👍 I'm trying to be faithful to just ride my stationary bike 15-20 mins every other day. Seems I'm doing better than my wife. I know she'd feel more energetic if she did it more. I know I'd feel better if I did it more often.

@randynose @pixelfed @Gina I think it would be easier to stick to your goal of your road a real bike, and had changing scenery and different places to ride around to. Might make it easier and more interesting and less like a chore

@kev 100kg benching?!? JC, that's a lot. Not sure why, but benching is my weakest move. I've never gone over 40kg.

@Gina I got to 140kg before I stopped lifting. That was 1 rep max though. I could force a couple more, but form was shit. For sets I’d do 110/120. Was deadlifting around 170 without straps and 200 with.I was in the military then, so had lots of free time to train. Now, not so much. 😕We all have a weakest body part, I always had strong chest and shoulders, but rubbish back. I always struggled with my lats. Looks like it’s chest for you. None of us are perfect, unfortunately. 😁

@quaylessedNah, don't want to do the real bike thing. Riding inside watching TV can't get much better than that. Especially in the HOT or Cold. @pixelfed @Gina

@kev @Gina damm Kev you machine , that's big lifting , I'm stuck at 85kg bench can't seem to break it , 100kg deadlift but a very poor 75kg squat. I tend to do leg press more as I can lift heavier

@GreyLinux I'm the same way. I think I maxed out (meaning I stopped trying) around 115KG bench, and at the time I was focusing on that. At the same time I could easily do 230KG on squat without much work. I used to work out with a guy that could bench easily 2x as much as I could, but I could one leg lift what he maxed out on with the hip sled. Weird how different muscle groups work.@kev @Gina

@Gina @GreyLinux @kev I used to be in pretty good shape once upon a time. Now I get winded carrying my 3 year old up the stairs.

@mike @kev Wow 230kg that's insane , squats are definitely my weak area . My body type is a bit between ectomorph and endomorph so I'm a bit of a hardgainer. But I've started training a bit differently recently and since then I've have managed to break a few of my max lifts.

@GreyLinux @kev I definitely lean more towards endo, which has always frustrated me because my kid brother is definitely a mesomorph. I used to claim that I gained all the weight from the food he ate. Still not sure it's not true.

@mike @kev isn't it funny how we all 'want' to have traits from the other body types. I always have friends who say they wish they could eat like I can , but I always wish it was easier for my to put on a bit of weight without having to eat insane amount of food.
