I'm thinking about putting together a new website. The last one I had was on Wordpress, and sucked: https://web.archive.org/web/20160304140642/http://unfamusic.com/I think I'd need a few things on the website:- a blog (for posting new videos and other thoughts)- a forum (to connect with the community - possibly with a "secret" section for people who are really engaged in my work and would like to contribute during the production (?)- a portfolio section - to help me get gigs to get money to make videosAny advice?# unfa

@Wolf480pl Well, Discourse looks like the "industry standard" nowadays.

@unfa and the only supported installation method is by Docker. But if that works for you, gear.

@Wolf480pl Oh wait, I can't just get the Git code of Discourse and deploy on my own server?

@unfa you can, it's just that last time I checked, the deployment was so complicated that they said sth like "We really recommend using the docker image, but if you're rellay masochist, non-docker deployment docs are there. Just don't complain if they don't work."It was a few years ago though.(Also, you can install docker on your own server and deploy a docker image on your own server. That *I* consider Docker to be a bloated pig and a horrible workaround for those who don't want to fix the real issues doesn't mean *You* can't use Docker happily.)

@unfa (and by "those who don't want to fix real issues" I meant certain developers, eg. developers of Discourse)

@rgh @Wolf480pl @x42 Oh yeah! I am wondering in an "unfa forum" is really something needed. Maybe I should make a poll, ask the people. because making that only to have 5 people check it out once would be fun, but not for long :DMy main motivation is to provide searchable, archived text content for the community so my stuff doesn't get lost and spread around multiple profiles on various sites. But maybe I should just make bi-monthly Q&A videos instead, IDK.

@Wolf480pl @rgh @x42 Yeah, and posting a full script for them on YouTube isn't searchable either. So I thought maybe a forum could hold that - embedded video, but also searchable script text. I could also start publishing scripts for all videos there (I make them) - that could be helpful for searching stuff.
