When a server decides to silence or suspend another server on their side, it's that server curating it's experience. We're not discriminating against anyone, and we're not limiting their right to speak. They are still able to keep doing all those things on their own server.

We are however choosing to tune out, because we know we're not interested in what they have to say. It's kind of like deciding against listening to a radio channel. They still retain their right to speak, we're just choosing not to listen. There are a few cases of this being a preventative measure, in the case of Elekk, we know that we don't want to listen to Gab, or Kiwi-farms. We know they will harass our members.

And as a server we made a promise to our users when they signed up. We promised that we'd protect them from harm. When users then, from say gab, make accounts on OTHER SERVERS, to circumvent our blocks, they are proving our point.

Don't let their bad behaviour by signing up on other servers colour your view of that server before you've talked with the admin about the issue. You know if the server is known for being lax on things like this. Send reports their way, and reach out in person if you need to. They are trying to split us, make us fight among each other, don't let them. We can do this together. 💞

@maloki Even from a radical free-speech perspective, instance blocking isn't really an issue. Users can easily make accounts on instances that don't have as many blocks if they want to read what those instances sayIn my perspective, I'm responsible for keeping my users safe, I'll make some executive decisions, knowing full well they can set up shop elsewhere if they're not happy with it

@maloki @gaeel I don’t think he was encouraging block evasion, but rather saying if someone wants to see the content of servers your server blocks they can move instances.

@maloki I don't see your point here?If someone's on Gab, then they realize that they're missing out on the network because they made a poor choice of server, shouldn't them leaving Gab be considered a good thing?
