It can be.  However to me it isn't a job but more of a hobby and I obviously 
have far too much time on my hands.

Not that often, only when I get queried on it or get curious.  Most of my time 
is spent on script debugging than anything else.  Very little of any machine's 
uptime is spent on kernel compilation.
