Hey Maurice.. a friend of mine started to dabble with recompiling openxp and 
identified a few files that need extra attention:

grep .pas errs | uniq
xpcurses.pas(33,3) Fatal: Can't find unit xpcharset used by xpcurses
typeform.pas(495,6) Fatal: Can't find unit xpunicode used by typeform
xpcurses.pas(33,3) Fatal: Can't find unit xpcharset used by xpcurses
netcallindy.pas(28,22) Fatal: Can't find unit IdMessage used by netcallindy
xpcurses.pas(33,3) Fatal: Can't find unit xpcharset used by xpcurses
mime.pas(33,3) Fatal: Can't find unit xpcharset used by mime
mime_base64.pas(32,12) Fatal: Can't find unit xpstreams used by mime_base64
mime_qp.pas(27,15) Fatal: Can't find unit xpstreams used by mime_qp

...maybe that helps you?

Also, take a look inside the distros.txt file.  It mentions a few things about 
ncurses that may apply to your linux build.
