It got somewhat popular in the fox valley area after the largest board
(Flashpoint) swtiched from Proboard to Synchronet around 1994 or so. Before
that, every BBS was ProBoard.

"Mr. Homie's Neigborhood" was my favorite until the Sysop moved to Milwaukee.
both that BBS and Flashpoint ran ProBoard in the beginning, and it spawned a
ton of ProBoard BBSes in the area. When Flashpoint moved to Synchronet, a few
others followed.

There was a handful of more "professional" BBSes around here, they either ran
Wildcat! or MajorBBS. The Data Exchange went from MajorBBS -> Worldgroup to
becoming the area's first full-fledged ISP.

....Things too stupid to be spoken are sung.
