I agree 100%. However from my perspective, I am unlikely to use any offline reader given the lack of suitable filters to convert whatever offline format to msg and back, nevermind any connectivity issues. That is why I wrote my own that is compatible with the packed message format as per fts-0001.016 specs. The major difference is that I don't bother with the binary data in the msg header. All that gets tacked on when producing a pkt suitable for uploading to the mothership. All the binary data is unneeded garbage that stands in the way of progress but is needed for processing by standard fidonet operating procedures. > I'd never actually done anything with binkd before. It was interesting. ;) More abandonware but needed at the present time. I've been toying with the idea of a binkp protocal app linked to libssh2 but due to other distractions haven't actually attempted it yet. I'd use that to replace scp locally and perhaps beyond.
