By today's standards, but for the mid-60s, they were considered quite good, 
especially for a TV show with limited budget and time.

You can hardly compare the two formats.  Movies have more time and more budget 
to tell one story while episodic TV of that time had to crank out a new story 
every week.

There are several books on TOS's production, but I recommend The Making of Star 
Trek by Stephen Whitfield, which was the first and IMO, the most accurate as 
the author actually spent time on the sets, talking to the actors and 
production staff.
