That doesn't look right.  Instead of gcc and probably GNU ld, shouldn't it be 
rustc and llvm's linker (ld) ?
At the moment I can't compile a kernel with llvm's ld but did manage to compile 
one with clang and booted it up.

This reminds me of Mandrake claim to be the ONLY native clang based 
distribution which when I loaded their kernel proved to be gcc based.  It 
waasn't long after that they went MIA.  Also Debian and their eglibc bullshit 
but that was different.  I had a LFS built with eglibc and despite it working 
saw absolutely no good reason to ditch glibc.

However I saw a doc about this particular subject and just might take another 
stab at getting a rustc kernel booting once I figure it out.  My motivation you 
ask?  I see a posible chance to one-up archlinux.  :::most evil grin:::
