I just finished compiling everything I currently use, and then some (xorg, 
firefox and the such), and so far only rdfind-1.8.0 required a fix;

  CXX="g++ -std=c++17" ./configure --prefix=/usr"

did the trick.  Everything else is as before and no standards were harmed in 
the making.
