   The only people having a problem with my kludge (the 2 or 4 is never used, 
and you know it) are those who don't understand that the kludges are for use on 
the message text, and not on the MSG header, that are read before the text and 
its kludges.

   Applying a kludge retroactively to the header can create severe problems, 
especially when it increases the various parts by replacing a one-byte 
character with two or more bytes.
