Subj : Sapelo Island Expedition - N4N Operation To : All From : Ricky DeLuco Date : Thu Jul 23 2026 08:15 am Sapelo Island Expedition Group Announces N4N Special Event Operation October 8-11, 2026 QRZ N4N The Sapelo Island Expedition Group is pleased to announce that operators Ricky (K4JTT), Ian (NV4C), and Tim (WK4U) will activate special event station N4N from beautiful Sapelo Island, Georgia, October 8-11, 2026. The team hopes to work radio amateurs from all over the world from Sapelo Island this October. This operation commemorates the 16th anniversary of the group's first Sapelo Island activation during International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend in 2010. Amateur radio operators around the world are invited to work N4N as the team operates from one of Georgia's most unique barrier islands. Operating Information The team plans to be active on: 80, 40, 20, 15, and 10 meters SSB, CW, FT8, and FT4 Equipment will include: Elecraft K3 Yaesu FT-991 Flex 6300 Possibly Yaesu FT-857D A variety of portable antennas optimized for island operations Award Credit Contacts with N4N will qualify for several popular amateur radio award programs, including: Grid Square: EM91ij Islands On The Air (IOTA): NA-058 US Islands Award Program (USI): GA007S Amateur Radio Lighthouse Society (ARLHS): USA-738 – Sapelo Island USA-1014 – Sapelo Island Range Front Lighthouse Due to operating logistics and site limitations, this activation will not qualify as a Parks on the Air (POTA) operation. Log Uploads The expedition team intends to upload logs daily as internet connectivity from the island permits. Should connectivity be unavailable during the operation, all logs will be uploaded within ten (10) days following the conclusion of the expedition. Logs will be available through: Logbook of The World (LoTW) Club Log QRZ.com Paper QSL cards will not be available for this expedition. This special event expedition provides a wonderful opportunity for hams from around the world to work this rarely activated Georgia island for credit in multiple award programs.
