That's a supposition, but I do see a lot of "Hi, bye"s on traffic nets.  I 
never got that.  If you don't have any traffic, why check in?  I've heard TNs 
that get maybe 10 check-ins, and nobody has traffic, so the net ends.  There's 
10 min. wasted.
