I'm unaware of what "dist-gpl.sh" does or if it has been modified in the last 
decade or more. You could just try "make" and see what happens. Works for me. 
and I'm using gcc (GCC) 16.2.1 20260810. See the latest version in my tearline, 
compiled about 15 minutes ago with "make GOLD_UTF8=1".
