Since I've been exchanging only local echoes from the 2:34 the last 20 years, 
"backbone" is for me the international corpus of echo areas that all of you are 
exchanging. :-)

I'm wondering if the echolist -as some kind of echo reference- would be serving 
this "backbone" concept for me, now I'm looking beyond the 2:34 scope.

But with your question, I think that I have to assume there's no backbone, 
isn't it, Ward?
