Yea so... yer right the current 'stable' release is 3.18a - but even that is an alpha so I guess I'm wrong in stating that its STABLE. Usually tho, the releases are pretty solid. As a normal user/sysOp, I don't pull down every night or week - but if something important is found while on an alpha, like some feature that is actually BROKEN or.... then I'll do a pull of the daily code for a particular fix. IMO Synchronet is the most current and developed BBS Software, and yer fine if you just use each release that he puts out. So yer on the right version currently... I'd wait until the next actual release. Digital Man is really great to his community, but his replies can be lost or interpreted as less than caring to newbie ears. The truth is hes still working that software every week - so... I do prefer Mystic; mainly because its more like Renegade/'normal' user BBS softwares from back in the day. Synchronet was always the paid/business BBS Software. It's super powerful; if you love code or have a team of people working on your install. :P Mystic has more of the 'cool kids' stuff.
