So, yes, a Pi is fully capable as a NAS - but with some caveats. At *BEST* I get 50MBs transfer speeds, but it idles around 10MBs most times... Theres a couple bottlenecks, tho - it does have gigabit ethernet, but the drives are connected via USB-3 - there are many SBCs these days that have SATA connections, and IMO they are more apt to be a killer SBC NAS. I like the Odroid brand, and some of their newer SBCs use the Rock 35xx chipsets, which give the Pi 4 a run for its money...
