My issues with Pygopher and the file structure not showing up w/o a gophermap 
came down to permissions. I didn't have 775 in the /gopher file structure but 
Pygopherd was showing some 'unable to access' or 'unable to open file' error.

I kept playing with it and finally got .txt's to open w/o a gophermap file - 
which was the only way for me because some directories had 1000s of files; I 
wasn't going to make a gophermap for them.
