Tried and results are iffy on a good day.

What needs to run are:

SmartSDR (the client GUI end of the radio)
SmartLink (the Azure based VPN manager/coordinator part)
CAT (the ports manager)
DAX (Digital Auidio Manager)
WSJT-X (the digital program)

behind the scenes is VSP, which is driver for the DAX and SmartSDR

Traffic is over two ports, includes dattime stamed VITA-49 bidirectional
traffic.

I found the setup in VM fragile and the latency all over.  

Forgot to mention that my radios are such that they can open eight
simultanious "slice" radios with their own VITA-49 traffic.  

There is additional handshaking to reduce the chance of uncontrolled
transmisions.

There is a dedicated third party Client for macOS and a different one for
iPhone/iPad use. 

The issues with Linux and Android audio controls is why there is not a
general release port of SmartSDR for either.
