I did finally upgrade to Big Sur 2 weeks ago, when 11.2 came out.  No problems 
at all with the upgrade, which took about an hour.  Everything seems fine so 
far.  Even all my shell customizations survived... usually a major OS update 
wipes them all out.... so that was cool.
