Dude - I know yer struggle... I just did the same thing; from 23.10 back to 
Arch. :/

Very nice. Two  'cool' things I like installing are grub2 dedsec themes and 
Plymouth luks2 decrypt themes; I particularly like aid1090's optimus one 
(plymouth-theme-optimus-git I think...) I spruces up the boot w/ graphics from 
power button to desktop.
