Did you ever play around with getting off the nvidia-noveux drivers and step 
down from the newest nvidea-540 to ... 515, then 470, etc etc - cause I think 
you wanna be off the noveux ones that don't use the full potential of your 
card. Your nvidea GPU should be able to handle fractional w/o issue. 

Another thought - did you do any fractional scaling 'fixes' at all? Cause I 
know on Wayland I had to do a couple things for fractional to work properly... 
I didn't think about that.
