I also like X forwarding over SSH, I can run a desktop app natively on my pc 
but running on a VM or other computer like this;

ssh -X user@someremotesystem "nautilus ~"

This would use X forwarding, to launch nautilus in the home folder of the user 
"user" on the computer "someremotesystem" but display it on MY computer, not 
display it on "someremotesystem"

SSH and X forwarding is super nice... just if you're gonna try it over the 
internet, expect latency to make it super slow, using it over the local network
