Yes, that's true for many things.
wget is useful if you have the whole URL available, and that's what I also  
use very often.
ncftp as a text mode, but not ncurses etc., client is not really what I'm  
searching - as I wrote "nice simple GUI FTP clients".
But it's nice to have it :)
