FULL STORY ====================================================================== In an unprecedented move, a Seattle area software developer responsible for maintaining Open Source security and encryption software used by millions of web servers around the world has received a $5 tip. It really just blew me away, stated the software developer. As the sole maintainer of one of the most critical pieces of software on the entire Internet Im just not used to that sort of generosity. When asked what he planned to use the unexpected funds for, the developer told The Lunduke Journal, What cant I use it for?! Might get myself 2/3rds of a Starbucks coffee. Or, oh , maybe 1/125th of the monthly web hosting costs for the project. The skys the limit! When asked for comment on the news-worthy donation, the Open Source Initiative provided the following quote: This $5 donation proves the viability of the Open Source model. Put in years of development? Write the code that makes the modern Internet possible? This is the sort of reward that could be in your future.
