Here are my top picks. FULL STORY ====================================================================== DJI and GoPro revealed stunning 360 cameras this year that both shoot 8K video with full 360-degree coverage. They present a serious challenge to the Insta360 X5 the top pick in my best 360 camera guide , and while I reckon the X5 remains the best camera of its kind overall, DJI's Osmo 360 and GoPro's Max 2 have certain advantages of their own. Shop all early Amazon US Black Friday deals Shop all early Amazon UK Black Friday deals So which you should buy? That decision is hardly any easier since all the cameras are on sale over Black Friday, although your wallet will be thanking you if you act this week rather than delaying. If we're purely talking price, it's a win for DJI right now the DJI Osmo 360 costs $357.49 at Amazon (was $549.99), while it's 298 at Amazon in the UK (probably the best deal of all). In the US, there's $50 off for the GoPro Max 2 which is now $449 (was $499) - while it sinks to a record low in the UK: $349 at WEX (was $449). Meanwhile, the Insta360 X5 drops to $464.99 in the US (was $549.99) and to just 409.99 in the UK (was 519.99) both of those are record-low prices, and it's available for that price in black or white. (Not in the US or UK? You can find the best prices for the best 360 cameras via the links at the end of this roundup.) Also possible with the Insta360 X5. (Image credit: Future | Sam Kieldsen) Best deal or best value? Based on these deals, surely DJI is the option to go for? Not exactly prices only tell one side of the story (and they do regularly change). The Insta360 X5 and GoPro Max 2 both have a trick up their sleeves that DJI's Osmo 360 wishes it had and that's cost-effective replacement lenses. Should either of the lenses get damaged, say in a nasty tumble which is quite likely depending on what kind of use the camera gets and the bulbous design of those optics you can swap them out with a low-cost replacement. Not so with the Osmo 360. On this basis and with the slight price differences in the UK and US over Black Friday, I'm tempted to recommend the GoPro and Insta360 cameras over DJI's right now. That's one feature covered, but you should also consider when and where you are likely to use each camera. In our in-depth reviews, we said the Insta360 X5 is the best overall package, that the Max 2 excels in bright daylight with its 'true' 8K image quality, while the Osmo 360 is a low-light champion. As you can see, the choice also comes down to how you'll use a 360 camera thankfully we've reviewed each model and distilled that advice into our best 360 cameras guide . Here's how each of the latest flagship 360 camera's key specs square up: GoPro Max 2, DJI Osmo 360 and Insta360 X5 specs compared GoPro Max 2 DJI Osmo 360 Insta360 X5 Type: 360 camera 360 camera 360 camera Video 'True' 8K up to 30fps, 10-bit 8K up to 50fps, 10-bit 8K up to 30fps Photo 29MP 120MP 72MP Sensor Twin 1/2.3-inch Twin 1.1-inch Twin 1/1.28-inch Max aperture f/1.8 f/1.9 f/2.0 Waterproof depth: 5m / 16ft 10m / 33ft 15m / 49ft Screen: 1.82-inch touchscreen 2-inch touchscreen 2.5-inch touchscreen Replacement lenses Yes No Yes Storage: microSD 128GB internal, plus micro SD microSD Dimensions: 64 x 70 x 49mm 61 x 81 x 36mm 46 x 124.5 x 38.2mm Weight: 6.88oz / 195g 6.45oz / 183g 7.1oz / 200g One more thing do you actually need the latest gear at all? I'm asking because there are even bigger savings on older models, such as the Insta360 X4 and Go Pro Max (I've also included those below), plus budget brand Akaso. However you look at it, it's a great time to be shopping for a 360 camera. For years, there was only one choice Insta360 but now we are spoiled with alternatives from GoPro, DJI, and Akaso. Prices change regularly over Black Friday, so I've included live prices below for the best deals for all of these 360 cameras at the end of this article, for wherever you live. Today's best 360 camera deals in the US The Osmo 360 wasn't initially available at launch in the US when it was announced in July this year, but it can now be picked up at the likes of B&H Photo and Amazon, and it's already on sale. The Standard Combo was $550 and can be had for as little as $357.49, while the Adventure Combo costs $454.99 at Amazon (was $699.99) , which adds two extra batteries, a charging hub, a selfie stick, and a mount. Price check: Osmo 360 Standard Combo for $357.49 at B&H Photo View Deal The Max 2 has a modest $50 off, but that is the first price cut on GoPro's latest 360 camera. And it still costs less than the Insta360 X5. Price check: Max 2 $449 at B&H Photo View Deal My favorite 360 camera overall gets it biggest price cut to date the previous low was $519.99. And with swappable lenses, it could be better value than DJI in the long run, especially for gung ho users. It's now also available in white for the same price, via the same link. This deal is also available at the Insta360 store . View Deal Succeeded by the Insta360 X5, the X4 is still a top buy, especially for this record low price. This model also offers 8K video, slow-motion video options plus a handy 4K single lens mode, all ably supported with powerful image stabilization for smooth action on the go. Want to know what you'll miss out on by opting for the older model? Check out my Insta360 X5 vs X4 article . At this new low price, I reckon this is one of the best buys in the US. This deal is also available at the Insta360 store . View Deal The X3 is now two generations old and tops out at 5.7K video, whereas its successors can shoot 8K. However, don't write the X3 off its still an excellent 360 camera, with the same powerful Insta360 image stabilization, 33ft / 10m waterproofing, bullet time and time shift modes, editing software and handy accessories. This is still a better camera than Akaso's 360, and my top budget pick. You can grab the same price at the Insta360 store. View Deal The original Max was launched all the way back in 2019 and it was cutting edge then. six years later it still shoots decent 5.7K resolution 360 video and 16.6MP stills, and it's price has been slashed since the newer GoPro Max 2 arrived. Honestly? I would spend more on the latest model, it's a sizable upgrade, with those replacable lenses. View Deal The Akaso 360 camera launched for $199.99 on July 7 right on Prime Day heavily undercutting other options. Features wise, it compares most directly to the older Insta360 X3, so don't expect the latest tech. That said, it's still the world cheapest 360 camera. Check out our Akaso 360 review . View Deal Today's best 360 camera deals in the UK The Osmo 360 launched as recently as July this year, costing 409.99 for the standard bundle, or 549.99 for the adventure bundle. Now, just a few months later, we have the first major price cuts, which undercut rival flagships. That Osmo 360 Adventure Combo is now just 395 bargain. Price check: Osmo 360 299 at WEX Photo Video View Deal Not to be outdone by DJI, GoPro has also slashed 100 off its 360 camera, and it arrived even later, just two months ago, in September. You can grab that deal at WEX but also at GoPro's own site, where there is also a deal for the GoPro Max 2 + Accessories Bundle, which was 499 but now costs 399 . With items totalling a combined value of over 540 that's the camera, 2x Enduro batteries, memory card, and 1.2m selfie stick this accessories bundle is arguably an even better package. Price check: Max 2 349 at GoPro View Deal There's still no better 360 camera than the Insta360 X5 overall, and it hits a record-low price for Black Friday. It still costs more than rival cameras, but that price gap isn't so big with this deal, and remember, the X5 features replaceable lenses, ideal for gung ho users. This deal is also available at the Insta360 store . View Deal It's six years old now, but the Max still shoots crisp 5.7K 360 video and is an excellent value pick with this huge price cut. Naturally, it is directly compatible with GoPro's vast range of accessories. View Deal The X4 might have been replaced by the X5, but it stills delivers 8K video, slow-motion video and bullet time mode, plus a handy 4K single lens mode which means it doubles up as a regular action cam, all ably supported with powerful image stabilization for smooth action on the go and 33ft / 10m waterproofing. This is another record-low price, and arguably better value than its succesor. Also available at the Insta360 store . View Deal The X3 tops out at 5.7K video, whereas its successors, the X4 and X5, can shoot 8K. However, don't write the X3 off it's still an impressive 360 camera, with many of the same Insta360 features as newer models, including effective image stabilization, 33ft / 10m waterproofing, bullet time and time shift modes, editing software and handy accessories. Now available for a record-low 219.99, it's probably the top budget pick. You can grab the same price at the Insta360 store. View Deal Launched in July, the Akaso 360 entered the market as a budget-friendly alternative to Insta360 and GoPro, and it remains the world's cheapest 360 camera. It scored 4 stars in our in-depth review and capabilities-wise it is best compared to the Insta360 X3. It scores a 15% discount for Black Friday and is an absolute bargain.
