The answers to today's Strands, game #627, are RUMOR GOSSIP REPORT HEARSAY 
SPANGRAM: SPREADTHEWORD My rating: Hard My score: 1 hint 

The theme left little doubt of what we were looking for, but after getting 
RUMOR and GOSSIP fairly quickly I hit a wall, so took a hint. 

My hint word, REPORT, opened up HEARSAY and immediately I saw the words 
spread and word, although it took me until the end of the game to join them 
together with the to make up the spangram. 

Getting the last word was quite the joy. What a great word SCUTTLEBUTT is  
worth doing this search to find that alone  and definitely one that should 
return to common parlance. All this sassy talk of spilling tea and dishing 
the dirt, thats all just scuttlebutt. Yesterday's NYT Strands answers

Strands is the NYT's not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and 
Connections. It's now a fully fledged member of the NYT's games stable that
