FULL STORY ======================================================================The Coros Pace 4 smartwatch has just launched It adds an AMOLED display and better heart rate accuracy The price has increased slightly versus the Coros Pace 3 If youre into streamlined, lightweight running watches, the Coros Pace series has long offered strong contenders. There was a lot to like in the Pace 3 , but theres tough competition from the likes of the Garmin Forerunner 165 and Fitbit Versa 3 . Can Coros keep up? Were about to find out, as the company has just announced an update to its popular Pace range. The Coros Pace 4 comes with a range of updates but still packs in the lightweight frame of its predecessor, maintaining its 32g weight when paired with a nylon strap. That should be featherweight enough not to weigh you down when youre out on the trail. One of the most significant upgrades in the Pace 4 is the addition of a 1.2-inch AMOLED touchscreen display, bringing this aspect closer to the Coros Pace Pro watch. When we reviewed the Pace 3, we dinged it for its mineral glass LCD screen that could be a little tough to see in bright sunlight. With the addition of AMOLED tech, you should be able to enjoy a brighter, clearer display in all conditions. Coros says its also improved the watchs heart rate accuracy, giving you more precise readouts that should better reflect your actual heart health. This is due to a redesigned heart rate sensor that Coros says is able to reduce outlying spikes and drops in your measurements. Even longer battery life (Image credit: Coros) Beyond that, the Pace 4 comes with voice-activated controls thanks to a built-in microphone. That means you can now record training logs, capture Voice Pins, note down memos and more, all without needing to touch your watchs display. Battery life was always a strong point of the Pace 3, and the Pace 4 has improved that again. At 41 hours, youll get more juice out of the Pace 4 when connecting to a five-satellite network than the Pace 3 would get when connected to two satellites (25 hours). In terms of GPS workouts, thats pretty impressive. Not everything has changed, though. The design remains the same as the one youll find on the Pace 3, while features like the Virtual Pacer and race predictions carry over from the previous model. We praised the sheer number of metrics present with the Pace 3, so its good to see much of that in the new Pace 4. As for the price, the Coros Pace 4 will cost you $249 (229 GBP) and is available now. Thats a slight increase over the $229 / 219 price of the Pace 3, but since affordability was one of the key highlights of the previous model, were glad to see the price hasnt rocketed up too much.
