The answers to today's Strands, game #559, are EXPECTATIONS APES PLAINS LAKES 
AUNTS MINDS SPANGRAM: THEYRE GREAT My rating: Easy My score: Perfect 

I know its impossible in the Strands format, but the missing apostrophe in 
THEYRE GREAT is all kinds of wrong and not at all great. 

After finding EXPECTATIONS early  thanks to the X  and APES (thanks to it 
being in a corner), I was clear that we were looking for Great things. 

However, there were a few surprises among the selections; AUNTS made the cut, 
and PLAINS too  but where was Britain? 

Im sure owners of Great Danes are similarly peeved! Yesterday's NYT Strands 
answers (Friday, September 12, game #558) VINTAGE AGELESS ANTIQUE HISTORIC 
ENDURING SPANGRAM: TIME HONORED What is NYT Strands? 

Strands is the NYT's not-so-new-any-more word game, following Wordle and 
Connections. It's now a fully fledged member of the NYT's games stable that 
has been running for a year and which can be played on the NYT Games site on 
desktop or mobile.
