I've never got into Amateur Radio - know nothing about it (and to be honest
quite surprised and amazed at the number of folks who have a license - keeps
me wondering what I'm missing out on).

I would get into it, if I could attach a computer to it and do data
transfers, I think it would be cool (err kewl) to send packets of data to
machines through the air and even kewler if it could be done globally (even
if it was store and forward)...

And if that can be done, I have no idea where to begin :)
