Welcome back to the air! :)  You may have issues opening links using the radio,
the UV-5R is known to have DTMF issues (different issues with each iteration!).
 But for the price, they work surprisingly well.

Look up CHiRP.  This software is capable of programming a multitude of radios,
including the UV-5R.  It's open source and runs on Linux, Windows and Mac.  You
can even port configertions between different radio models - useful if you ever
upgrade. :)
