MP> MP> Looks like it, you are coming through here OK. :) OK I have done a little investigating and I think I have found the issue to my hardware woes... After getting everything working again I logged into my PVE server and ran DMESG to see just what was going on while booting, and checked some logs too, in my searching I found this; [ 1089.724114] ata4.00: exception Emask 0x0 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x0 action 0x6 [ 1089.724163] ata4.00: BMDMA stat 0x66 [ 1089.724192] ata4.00: cmd 35/00:00:ef:3c:ff/00:04:00:00:00/e0 tag 0 dma 524288 out [ 1089.724194] res 51/84:31:be:3d:ff/84:03:00:00:00/e0 Emask 0x30 (host bus error) [ 1089.724284] ata4.00: status: { DRDY ERR } [ 1089.724309] ata4.00: error: { ICRC ABRT } [ 1089.724342] ata4: soft resetting link [ 1089.981561] ata4.00: configured for UDMA/133 [ 1090.048905] ata4.01: configured for UDMA/133 [ 1090.048924] ata4: EH complete After some googling I found that this might be an incompatibility with my kernel and ACPI, which I thought was odd as the issue only just happened, anyway continued to read some and then had a thought.... What device actually is ata4? Well, turns out it is a dvd-rom drive that is in the machine, and that drive suddenly doesn't work. At all. pressing the eject button doesn't do anything, no lights, nothing. It's dead! Well seeing as I haven't used it, ever, I have disconnected it from the motherboard and power, and rebooted the server. Those messages, no longer appear. Woohoo!! Problem solved hopefully. I am going to do a disk check on the SSD and other disk later, and I am thinking of getting another disk in there to eventually replace the storage drive, but other than that, everything looks like it's behaving well again. Just thought I'd share what I discovered in case anyone else running linux sees frightening messages like that and panics. Hope y'all have had a good week, now it's the weekend... time to do some BBSing =) |14Best regards, |11Ch|03rist|11ia|15n |11a|03ka |11Me|03aTLoT|11io|15N |07ÄÄ |08[|10eml|08] |15ml@erb.pw |07ÄÄ |08[|10web|08] |15www.erb.pw |07ÄÄÄ¿ |07ÄÄ |08[|09fsx|08] |1521:1/158 |07ÄÄ |08[|11tqw|08] |151337:1/101 |07ÂÄÄÙ |07ÄÄ |08[|12rtn|08] |1580:774/81 |07ÄÄ |08[|14fdn|08] |152:250/5 |07ÄÄÄÙ --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A43 2019/02/10 (Linux/64) * Origin: The Quantum Wormhole, Ramsgate, UK. bbs.erb.pw (1337:1/101) .
