i have that exact same situation and exact same problem with an email address 
i have that i never really used.

the guy was even able to take control of it many years ago and he used it.
eventually i got bored and i tried to get it back. i jumped through those
hoops and got it back.  i forwarded all new mail into trash and i did an
autoresponse saying this email address was not monnitored.
