So the way I read it is basically not to cause yourself serious harm to 
complete the challenge.

With regard to doing everything from the BBS, I was thinking about that.  If 
one were able to use dial-up to access a BBS, and that BBS had some level of 
internet connectivity (whether an email handler, or a connection to IRC, for 
exmample), I would still consider that being "not connected to the internet".
