Me> BP> Over the last weeks, I have been in the process of obtaining a promot Me> BP> at work, and I was finally chosen for the position. Starting tomorrow Me> BP> Monday, I will be one of the two salaried managers at our location. Me> Me> WOW! Congratulations man, that's awesome news. What will you be doing in Me> your new role? Well, I work for a 3PL (3rd Party Logistics) company that is contracted by our local Intel location. We handle all of the shipping, receiving, stores of consumable raw materials, etc. As of today, I am in change of the stores, silicon and wafer shipping teams. All of the really expensive parts that come in, have work done to them, and then sent out again are in my areas. I have 6 teams under me with about 25 people in total. Should be fun! ;) Me> How do you feel about the 3 12.5 hour shifts? I think that could be Me> great to have 2 week days free for your self, and just slog it out for 3 Me> days... but I guess it also depends on what it is you're going to be Me> doing. 12 hours is only half a day, so it won't be too bad. ;) I actually don't mind working longer hours. In one of my previous positions, I was working anything from 10 - 18 hours/day. It wouldn't have been bad if I were hourly at the time... Me> BP> I hope within the next week to get back into some of the projects I'v Me> BP> been working on, and maybe get some of them finished. :) The one proj Me> BP> has been in the works for months, and is getting close to being opene Me> BP> for testing. Me> Me> Always willing to trial and test stuff here, looking forward to seeing Me> your projects coming into fruition too. This project will need some good testing when it gets to that point. There is an interbbs aspect to it, that I'm in the process of writing from scratch. The outbound seems to be working fine. I just need to finish the inbound processing, and make sure it all works together. (you might actually recognize the project...) ;) Me> Yeah these are fudging awesome man! Love having the news right at my Me> fingertips with no other distractions etc. Just the raw news, as it Me> should be =) I still have to find some time to clean the up a bit yet. I've also been having some issues now with the TinyURL calls... For some reason, my bash script is inserting a space in the url it calls, and TinyURL isn't able to produce the shortened url... I'm glad you like them. I used to go to the website and read the new stories, but its actually easier to read them on here now. :) Me> BP> Another thing I wanted to let every know about, as I think it's Me> BP> exciting, is Michael Batts (stizzed) from The Rock BBS, has taken ove Me> BP> development of both the Mys Tic Announce File and Mystic MultiTool Me> Me> Wow that's great, so he's going to contribute? or fully own these going Me> forward? Will you still be able to contribute to them too or solely him? Since I've pretty much stopped working on those, I put them out there in hopes that someone might take over development. Michael asked if he could modify/update them, and I told him to go for it. He has taken over the development. I'm not sure yet if he plans on releasing anything, or if he's just doing it for his use. I'll have to ask him. Me> Yes I have that bookmarked already =) C is something I need to really Me> start to learn, I have dabbled a tiny bit here and there, but not really Me> done anything useful in it. C really isn't too difficult to learn. I just started by creating a fun little program that I thought Paul (Avon) would enjoy. I do have it up on my board, in the 'Panthers Playground' area. If you've seen the movie WarGames, you'll recognize it pretty quick. ;) It's completely text, but that is what I started with in C. It took me about a hour or so to write it, and it gave me a good understanding of how the language works. Me> What limitations with GoDaddy? I'm not a DNS expert by any stretch of the Me> imagination but if I can help in any way I'd be very happy to offer it. I had wanted to have files available to download from the website, but I would put a link to file tqwinfo.zip, and the user would download a file named fasdf456hjj645681838a2df48338eapoi4323.zip. I was hoping that I could eventually have a bunch of files available for download, but the filenames would need to stay intact. I might end up having to look into a vps or something, as I didn't think about port 80 potentially being blocked by my isp... Me> BP> Ok, this was intended to be a short update as to why I haven't been v Me> BP> active, and it turned into an autobiography. ;) Sorry about that. Me> Me> You could sell that on Amazon, I'll have the paper back though as Me> I'm a cheapskate =) I looked into selling stories on Amazon, but I thought they took to much of the sale for each one... Maybe I'm a cheapskate as well... ;) Me> BP> If you are still reading, the winning lottery numbers are: 4,&*$#NO Me> BP> CARRIER Me> Me> 4 check, noooo wait... what are the other ones... dang it! That was actually last weeks loto numbers anyway... ;) --- Black Panther(RCS) Castle Rock BBS --- Mystic BBS v1.12 A45 2020/02/18 (Linux/64) * Origin: Castle Rock BBS - bbs.castlerockbbs.com - (1337:3/111) .
