Yes, newsgroups (Usenet and other nets) still exist and some of them are fed
through FidoNet and other Fido-based networks.  You can also pull them from
some external sources, such as newshosting.com and giganews.com but "buyer
beware".  Most of Usenet is junk, spam, and a waste of time.  Even the trusty
rec and comp headings are trash.
