The MTU is controlled by the ZT network (ie: me) - I've set it to 1400.

The default (which I think is 3000 or something high like that) was problematic
 (at least for me). I noticed that some transfers would stall - problem with
the required fragmentation for those with a smaller MTU, and perhaps some
firewalls blocking that ICMP packet.

There might have been a timeout? Sometimes it might take a few seconds for a
path to be found, if the current path expired...
