I have an external 28.8 Diamond SupraExpress modem.  Not sure if it works
though.  No hardline to check it with.  I would hope it still works :)

Got pleny of ham radio equipment though!  My call is KG4CNA.  Been licensed
since 1999....extra class since 2009.

As far as a "kill switch", I don't believe there is one.  With all the tech
available, it would be hard to completely stop it.
