Subj : pellet rifles To : All From : Orbitman Date : Fri Mar 04 2016 11:49:00 Got out my Gamo Silent Cat (.177 cal) today after putting a new scope on it last night to sight it in. If you've not messed with the Gamo guns, they're advertised as "adult air rifles" and they are powerful. The scope is a Barska Gen 2 Sniper scope my wife found at the local Goodwill store (yep...at the Goodwill) for a few dollars. The model is AC11668 3-9 x 42. New, this scope runs between $100 and $150 depending on where you get it. It has the illuminated reticle with red (for night) and green (for day) if you want to use it. After a few shots to get it sighted in, I'm hitting dead on at 25 yds. Seems the Gamo and the Barska make a good combo. I haven't shot enough to see if the spring action of the gun will mess up the aim. The little scope that Gamo includes with this gun is a POS and will not stay on zero. It wandered off to the left and I had to move it a click back every time I fired. Air guns are quiet and are excellent for small game. I didn't have any targets of opportunity to try it on today ;) All the birds and squirrels are too far away and I live in a residential area....don't want a stray shot knocking out someone's window. I capped a couple of blue jays last year with it so I know it's deadly. Those birds were cleaning out my feeder :/ After I capped those two, I didn't have any more problems with the jays. The other birds stayed around and were able to get to the feeder. I'm not a fan of the jays...although they are beautiful birds, they're bullies and keep the other smaller birds away. My feeder attracts alot of the small chickadees, titmouse and cardinals. What I'd really like to have is one of the PCP air rifles in .22 cal. If you want to see one in action, YouTube is the place. Search for "Ted's Holdover". The guy is a great shot! Anyone else interested in air rifles? Thanks!
