Joel Skousen was on recently, too -- always a sobering percpective. I bought 
"Strategic Relocations" a few months back, it's a helpful guide for retirement,
too.

My wife and I were thinking about renting while we have kids in the house and
buying a small house out in the country somewhere as a rental/investment
property. Get a 1 or 2 bedroom place on a single floor plan and then once the
kids move out, move into the small house. Want a place with a more reasonable
cost of living, proximity to medical care, a friendlier culture, and all of the
things that make living in a smaller town attractive.

Of course, we blew that plan by falling in love with a house out by the beach
ona split-level plan, and bought it.  :)
