That explains it pretty good, and it's fine for people to belong to club or whatever, but it seems problematic for there to be an influence over a number of sub-groups.

Teacher unions are the same type of problem. They focus on the needs of their local chapters, but they share a common goal of electing Democrats, which is why I denounce them.
