Subj : Do The Illuminati Exist? What Want?

Nearly everyone has now heard of The Illuminati.  Are they just a story that has grown wings or do they currently exist?  There is no doubt that the Bavarian Illuminati existed, so we won't discuss them.  What is in question is whether they are in existence and active in the present day.  I would ask, let's say they do exist---then what are their goals?  Secret societies have to have secrets right?  So what are their goals and purpose of being in existence? Do they pose a threat to anyone?  Where do they operate from? Who runs the Society?  And what is their end game?

Perhaps they do not currently exist and its just a media thing, where they say that they exist just to publish content and sell rag magazines... Maybe they do exist and they are hiding in the public, not being able to be detected due to the massive rubbish in print about them, making their investigation of, and discussion of, basically vorboden.  No one wants to be the conspiracy kid in the corner with no friends.

Now lets say that they do exist... why are they in existence and what are they doing?  Whatever their purpose is, it is understood that they are up to no good.  What kind of no good are they up to specifically?  Historically, they were wanting to overthrow all governments, all religion, and unite the world into a new world order, centralizing disparate groups into a single all-powerful union of the ages.  That would certainly qualify them as being evil.

What do you think?  It all the bluster just a parlor game or something real, in actual existence?  Lets say they exist and also consider that they may not exist... what does that mean for the world? What is really going on here?
