Just a heads up,
There is software out there that causes a personal computer to access the
Internet and let a central server know where the computer is, based on its IP
address.  This is useful when a computer is placed in a location where there
is a lot of theft.  A worker may steal the computer thinking "wow, I've
scored."  When in fact the laptop is a honeypot and acting as a sophisticated
surveillance device.  Moral of the story: "don't steal and if you do, know
that you'll get caught.
