Subj : Non-Malware Spyware To : All From : warmfuzzy Date : Tue May 21 2019 06:30:24 My Grandmother was recently hacked big time. It lost her $18,000 Canadian Dollars. The software that rooted her Windows box was not detected as being malware because it had a useful function that people paid for, not something that usually is used to hack systems with. Teamviewer and a product from Citrix were installed on her machine. Both are meant for professional remote system administration. So the anti-virus detected no malware. How these software programs got on her computer in the first place is not known. Somehow they did get on her system though. Her box was fully rooted. There was also a third program that was in the same category of Teamview and the Citrix software, but I don't recall what that one was called. In all these cases the software had a legitimate purposes, they just weren't being used in legitimate ways. This is just a heads-up... if you see this stuff installed on your box be sure to delete them and run some anti-malware software to check for some sort of entry point.
